A devastating tragedy unfolded in northern Israel on Sunday when a three-month-old baby from Hatzor HaGlilit passed away at Ziv Medical Center in Safed.

The infant was evacuated to the hospital's pediatric emergency department after losing consciousness at home. United Hatzalah emergency responders immediately initiated resuscitation procedures before transporting the child to the medical center.

Yechiel Rushetzki and Dvir Levi, United Hatzalah medics who responded to the emergency call, described performing resuscitation procedures on the infant before evacuating her to Ziv Medical Center in critical condition. According to preliminary assessments, medical personnel suspected the infant may have choked on milk she had regurgitated, a dangerous phenomenon that occasionally occurs in infants when liquids enter the respiratory tract.

Upon arrival at Ziv Medical Center, hospital medical teams continued advanced resuscitation efforts. However, despite the extensive and dedicated work of the medical staff, physicians were compelled to pronounce the infant's death.

"The infant was brought to the medical center without vital signs while undergoing resuscitation attempts," hospital officials stated, "To our profound sorrow, we were compelled to pronounce her death."

Ziv Medical Center officials noted that the family is being supported during this difficult time by the hospital's medical and social work teams. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under thorough investigation.

The medical center expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family. May her memory be a blessing.

Hospital Continues Full Operations

Despite the tragedy, Ziv Medical Center continues to operate at full capacity, with no changes to its operational status. Hospital administration maintains ongoing situation assessments, remains in continuous contact with the Ministry of Health, and operates according to Home Front Command directives.

All hospitalization departments, delivery rooms, and emergency departments are functioning fully in their original locations. Outpatient clinics are also operating as scheduled in their original locations. The medical center emphasized it remains prepared and equipped for any scenario.
