A black bear paid an early-morning visit to a California library, and made himself at home. Security cameras at the Mono County Libraries captured the animal entering the Mammoth Lakes branch around 6 a.m., hours before opening time, heading straight for the staff snack area.
Footage released by the library system shows the bear helping himself to peanut butter, cookies, peach snacks, and a jar of honey. After finishing his meal, he took a tour of the premises, walking between the shelves and pausing at the reference desk before leaving the building.
Library officials said no damage was done to the building, the shelves, or any books.
Library director Joseph Boff responded to the incident with humor: "We definitely love enthusiastic visitors," he said, though he noted that snacks are not part of the library's collection.
