Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has signed a law mandating the use of Judea and Samaria for those regions, instead of the more internationally used term "West Bank."
This move is the latest effort by figures in the Republican Party, both at the state and the federal level, to officially grant more recognition to Israeli control of the Biblical heartland and disavow the international approach which views the areas as occupied areas, formerly belonging to Jordan and now earmarked for a future Palestinian state.
Settler leaders and lobbyists in the United States have been working hard to secure such outcomes, celebrating every such victory as one step closer to Israeli sovereignty over the region, though without explaining what would happen to the status of Palestinians living there.
