Knesset Amends Local Elections Laws, Allowing Soldiers to Vote From Gaza
The Knesset plenum passed an amendment to local elections law, including extending the early elections period for serving soldiers and expanding those eligible to serve on military electoral thresholds.
The Knesset plenum approved the law proposal to amend the laws related to local elections, in order to allow soldiers residing in the Gaza Strip, which is not considered Israeli sovereign territory, to vote. MKs supported the proposal without votes against or abstained.
Due to the war and the need to carry out the needed changes among soldiers and the army, it is proposed to established temporary orders extending the duration of early voters among IDF soldiers and the candidates eligible to serve on a military election board.
