Ganot Prison: Dangerous Items Discovered Hidden Behind Shower Wall
Dangerous items intended to harm prison staff were found concealed in a hidden space behind a shower wall, according to a report. On Wednesday, the Israel Prison Service (IPS) announced that jailers at Ganot Prison uncovered these hazardous items during a focused search.

The items, stored in two bags, were concealed in a hidden niche and were believed to be intended for use against the prison staff. An investigation into the incident has been launched according to Israel national news.
An IPS spokesperson stated: "In line with the policies set by Prison Service Commissioner Kobi Yaakobi, the Israel Prison Service remains vigilant in its efforts to detect and prevent the smuggling and concealment of prohibited items in both criminal and security facilities, aiming to enhance prison security and safeguard the lives of the staff."
In a related incident, in September 2021, six high-security prisoners escaped from Gilboa Prison by digging a tunnel beneath their cells. A report commissioned by the IPS revealed that the escape involved lifting a marble slab in the shower cubicle and tunneling through layers of steel and concrete.
Additionally, earlier this year, a disturbing incident occurred where an Arab prisoner attacked a female guard, attempting to strangle her. Recently released footage captures the attack, showing the prisoner choking the guard until other staff members intervened and rescued her.
