Aviv Bushinsky, former communications adviser to Benjamin Netanyahu, says the retired general faces a critical choice in the final hours before candidate lists close

As Israel's deadline for finalizing Knesset candidate lists approaches, political attention has focused on retired Brigadier General Ofer Winter, former commander of the Givati Brigade. Aviv Bushinsky, who previously served as communications adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told Radio 103FM on Monday morning that Winter's next move represents the most significant variable in the current election campaign.

Speaking during the interview, Bushinsky framed Winter's situation as a dramatic dilemma with far-reaching political consequences, regardless of which path the retired military commander ultimately chooses.

"I think the big question this morning is when Mr. Winter will see fit to arrive at the Elections Committee and choose his party ballot," Bushinsky said during the interview.

He then outlined the two scenarios facing Winter in these final hours: "Will he do it today and thereby close the door on the possibility of a union? Or will he be absorbed into Netanyahu's camp and not be squeezed out, so to speak." The timing of Winter's decision, Bushinsky suggested, will determine whether an alternative political alliance remains viable or whether Netanyahu's coalition consolidates further.
