Rift in American Right

Candace Owens Hit with Cease-and-Desist After Accusing TPUSA of Charlie Kirk's Death

The battle between Candace Owens and Turning Point USA is far more than a personal feud. It is a struggle over the narrative of the American right, the memory of Charlie Kirk, and the financial future of one of the country's most influential organizations.

Candace Owens, one of the most influential and controversial voices in the American conservative movement, is now embroiled in a head-on legal clash within the U.S. right-wing camp.

What began as a strong political alliance has devolved over recent months into a bitter and unrelenting battle that threatens to dismantle one of the key strongholds of American conservatism.

At the center of the storm is Owens, a outspoken political commentator with significant influence, often criticized for promoting global conspiracy theories, with approximately 5.7 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. These days, she is waging war against the organization that once served as her professional home: Turning Point USA (TPUSA).

To understand the magnitude of the fracture, it's essential to understand what TPUSA is. This nonprofit organization was established to promote conservative values, economic freedom, and limited government among college and high school students across the United States. Under the leadership of its late founder, Charlie Kirk, it grew into a formidable political force, organizing massive conferences and operating an extensive network of young activists.

On the other side stands Owens, who was previously one of TPUSA's most recognizable faces and a close ally of Kirk. Today, she operates independently through various broadcasting platforms, where she levels severe accusations against her former associates.

The current conflict extends beyond ideological disagreement, delving into dark territories of criminal allegations. In recent months, Owens has claimed that the organization bears responsibility for Charlie Kirk's death, even using harsh terms like "murder" to describe the events. At the heart of the exaggerated theory she promotes is Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk.

Owens claimed on her show that a third-party source confirmed Erika was seen near a military base (Fort Huachuca) shortly before her husband's death, a heavy hint at involvement by hidden elements or suspicious conduct.

In response to these accusations, TPUSA has broken its silence and taken legal steps. Owens recently received a formal cease-and-desist letter demanding she stop her defamations. The organization asserts that her statements are false and offensive, especially given that Owens is bound by a strict confidentiality agreement that includes a clause prohibiting her from slandering the organization's name.

But Owens, instead of retreating, chose to escalate the flames. She publicly called on TPUSA's major donors to demand their money back and withdraw their financial support, a move perceived as an attempt to collapse the institution's financial infrastructure.

Tensions worsened further when YouTuber Zach De Gregorio claimed he also received a legal threat letter from the organization after raising questions about its financial status and the use of drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) at an event in Utah. TPUSA argued that De Gregorio spread misleading information regarding flight permits for those drones.

As legal letters fly and accusations continue to flow, it appears the partnership of the past has been buried definitively under a mountain of suspicions and bitter resentments.
