Elon Musk pins “VOTE CUOMO” and butchers “Mumduni” - because even autocorrect can’t stomach the socialist clown.
Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk publicly endorsed former Gov. Andrew Cuomo for New York City mayor on Monday, urging voters to back the independent candidate and warning that a vote for Republican Curtis Sliwa would effectively help Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani win the November 4 election.
In a post on X, pinned to the top of his profile for maximum visibility, Musk wrote:
"Remember to vote tomorrow in New York! Bear in mind that a vote for Curtis is really a vote for Mumdumi or whatever his name is. VOTE CUOMO!"
The post misspells Mamdani's name as "Mumdumi" and has garnered and 20 million views as of Monday evening. Musk, who previously called Mamdani a "charismatic swindler" on The Joe Rogan Experience, has been vocal against the DSA-aligned assemblyman, criticizing his progressive policies on policing, housing, and Israel.
Musk's endorsement aligns him with a billionaire coalition opposing Mamdani, including Mike Bloomberg, Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, and hedge fund manager Bill Ackman. It also echoes President Trump's Sunday signal of support for Cuomo over Mamdani, whom Trump labeled a potential "total disaster" in a 60 Minutes interview.
Cuomo, polling second at ~28% behind Mamdani's ~43%, has gained momentum from incumbent Mayor Eric Adams' endorsement after Adams dropped out. Sliwa trails at ~8%, and Musk's jab at him amplifies calls for Republicans to consolidate anti-Mamdani votes behind Cuomo.
Mamdani's campaign seized on the post, with one supporter tweeting: "Thanks for the last-minute help to Mamdani’s campaign."
Cuomo's team did not immediately comment, but the endorsement could sway undecided voters in a race where early voting hit a record 735,000 ballots.
