Has Megyn Kelley Gone Over to the Dark Side?
Megyn Kelly's "Dark Side" Defection: Conservative Cannibalism or Justified Jihadicon Hunt?

Podcaster and former Fox News star Megyn Kelly is catching flak from her own side for cozying up to controversial figures like Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson.
It all kicked off with a fiery tweet from Shawn Hannity, a self-proclaimed "jihadicon slayer" who's made a name for himself battling what he sees as grifters and radicals infiltrating the right. "Megyn Kelly has officially joined the dark side," he declared, complete with a dramatic photo for emphasis. "I am done with her. If she wants to join the ranks of the schizophrenic jihadicons, have at it, but I want no part of that."
Ouch. Sounds like someone just got unfollowed in the ideological sense. This brouhaha isn't happening in a vacuum. It stems from the shocking assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, during a campus event at Utah Valley University.
Kirk, the 31-year-old firebrand known for his unapologetic conservatism, was gunned down in broad daylight, leaving behind a wife, Erika, and two young kids. The aftermath? A torrent of conspiracy theories, grief, and - because this is America - online celebrations from some left-wing corners that make you question humanity's progress.
One Pennsylvania mayor even posted he's "glad" Kirk is gone, sparking calls for his resignation.
Meanwhile, a new website, "Charlie’s Murderers," is doxxing those cheering the hit. Classy stuff.
Enter the conspiracy whirlwind. Some on the right, including Owens and Carlson, have floated wild ideas about Kirk's death, hinting at foul play tied to his supposed "flip" on Israel, despite a letter he sent to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirming support.
Owens, who's no stranger to controversy (remember her defending Kanye West's antisemitic rants back in 2022?), has been accused of dipping into blood libels and denying Holocaust facts, even calling space "fake and gay."
Carlson, during an interview on Kelly's show, subtly suggested Kirk was offed over opposition to war with Iran, without much pushback from the host.
And let's not forget the bizarre angle: a left-wing site, Jezebel, reportedly bragged about hiring "witches" to hex Kirk shortly before his death, which Kelly slammed as "playing with fire." Because why not add occult curses to the mix?
Shawn Hannity and podcaster Jackie Chea argue she's gone soft on these figures, defending Owens as "brilliant" and "intelligent" while dismissing clips of her rants as "out of context." Chea pointed out Kelly barely let a guest criticize Owens on her show, even after the latter spun conspiracies about Kirk's death.
Others warn that Kelly's eyeing a media empire with Carlson, so she's prioritizing business over calling out radicals. "Mark my words," he tweeted, "she will always side with Tucker over YOU."
Harsh, but in the cutthroat world of podcasting, alliances pay the bills. Not everyone's piling on, though. Some defend Kelly, noting her long friendships with Carlson and Owens, and arguing she's just exercising free speech now that she's free from corporate shackles.
Meanwhile, Eitan Fischberger insists Kelly isn't antisemitic or anti-Israel, pointing to her condemnations of Hamas and support for Israel's defense.
Kelly herself fired back at a Turning Point USA event on September 24, 2025, getting into a heated spat with a student over Trump's rhetoric post-Kirk's death. She emphasized her fight is with the left, not internal squabbles, and accused critics of trying to silence debate.
Fair point, after all, she lost her NBC gig over blackface comments years ago, so maybe she's gun-shy about ditching allies.
But here's the kicker: This infighting highlights a deeper schism in conservatism. On one side, pro-Israel traditionalists like Hannity fear antisemitic elements are hijacking the GOP.
On the other, isolationists and populists like Owens and Carlson push back against what they call overreach, with Kelly caught in the crossfire.
Is Kelly just another grifter chasing clicks, or is she a free-speech warrior? Only time will tell.
