Israel’s Supreme Court rejected Sara Netanyahu’s appeal to reinstate a restraining order against protest activist Nava Rozilio. Still, the prime minister’s wife declared “a decisive win,” citing the court’s acknowledgment of harassment claims.
In a legal twist worthy of headlines, Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israel’s prime minister, lost her bid in the Supreme Court to keep activist Nava Rozilio away. The justices dismissed her appeal, noting the restraining order she sought had already expired.
But Netanyahu spun the setback as a triumph.
“This decision is a clear and decisive victory,” her office said, highlighting that both lower and higher courts accepted her claim that Rozilio had harassed her.
Justice Alex Stein ruled there was no basis for a “third round of appeals,” explaining the restraining order had already lapsed. He emphasized that the Supreme Court does not rule on “purely theoretical” issues once orders expire.
Rozilio, represented by lawyer Gonen Ben Yitzhak, argued the attempt to extend the order was nothing more than a bid to silence legitimate protest and curb free speech.
Despite the rejection, Netanyahu vowed to file a new request for a restraining order in the coming days, promising the legal fight is far from over.
“The obsessive persecution of Mrs. Netanyahu will not go unanswered,” her statement declared.
