Rebki Razel, daughter of singer and musician Yonatan Razel, got engaged over the weekend to Avraham Yeshayahu Ben David, in a celebration held beside her father’s hospital bed.

Razel is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem after suffering a serious stroke around two weeks ago.

The engagement celebration was held in the ICU with close family members present, allowing Razel to take part in the family simcha despite his medical condition.

Earlier this week, his brother, musician Aharon Razel, updated the public on his condition and said Yonatan had been hospitalized following bleeding in his head. He said the diagnosis was made very quickly and that Razel was in intensive care for observation and monitoring. According to Aharon, Yonatan is fully conscious, communicating with the family, and did not suffer damage.

The bride, Rebki Razel, has also faced a serious medical struggle in the past. In 2010, on the eve of Yom Ha’atzmaut, when she was a child, she fell from the roof of the family’s home in Jerusalem’s Nachlaot neighborhood while watching fireworks. She was badly injured, but after a long rehabilitation process, she recovered.

In recent days, there has been a broad wave of tefillos for Yonatan Razel’s recovery. Singer Shuli Rand and his wife, Tzofit Grant, visited the Ohel of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in New York this week during a trip to the United States, where Rand placed a note asking for a refuah shleimah for Razel.

In the note, Rand wrote that Am Yisrael is asking for a full and urgent recovery for Yonatan Adi ben Chaya Rachel.

Yonatan Razel, 53, is one of the most respected figures in Chassidic and Jewish music. He is known for his emotional style, musical depth and performances across Israel and abroad.

The family is asking the public to continue davening for the full and speedy recovery of Yonatan Adi ben Chaya Rachel, and thanked those who have been offering tefillos and support during this difficult period.
