Tragedy near Hebron: Vehicle that Killed Palestinian Teen was En Route to Secure Minister Strook

New details have emerged regarding the fatal traffic accident on Route 60 near Hebron this morning. According to local reports, the victim is 16-year-old Mohammed al-Ja’abri, a resident of Hebron who was riding an electric bicycle at the time of the collision.

A security source told the Haaretz newspaper that the vehicle involved belongs to the "Magen" unit, which is responsible for securing government ministers. The source reported that the vehicle’s occupants were on their way to secure Minister Orit Strook in preparation for upcoming Memorial Day ceremonies.

Conflicting Accounts and Investigation

Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s office responded to the incident, clarifying: "This was not the Minister's vehicle, and the Minister was not at the scene. Regarding the event itself, an Arab minor jumped into the road at a red light. The security guard did everything in his power to prevent the accident and was injured himself; he is currently being treated at the hospital."

The accident occurred around 6:00 AM near the Beit Einun junction. Magen David Adom paramedics who arrived at the scene were forced to pronounce the teen dead at the site due to severe multi-system trauma.

"The victim was lying a great distance from his electric bicycle in the center of the road," said Magen David Adom paramedic Dror Eini. "He was unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing, suffering from very severe injuries. After medical checks, it was clear his injuries were fatal."

Avraham HaCohen, a medic from Ihud Hatzalah, stated: "This was an accident involving a vehicle and an electric bicycle rider. Unfortunately, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severe nature of the injuries he sustained."

The Israel Police have announced that an official investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.
