Report: First direct aerial confrontation between Israel and Turkey in Syrian airspace 

Sogzhou website, affiliated with the Turkish opposition, reported over the weekend the first direct confrontation between the Israeli and Turkish air forces in Syrian airspace.

According to the report, Turkish fighter jets crossed the border into Syria during the large-scale Israeli attack and delivered "warning messages" to Israeli planes that attacked, among other things, forces affiliated with Turkey. Channel 12 News reported that the IDF denies the report.

Turkish F-16 fighter jets reportedly penetrated Syrian airspace during the IDF's intensive attacks on the night between Friday and Saturday, and faced the Israeli fighter jets "face to face." The Turkish fighter pilots, it is claimed, conveyed messages to the Israeli pilots through electronic warfare systems.

During the wave of attacks, the air force also attacked targets of the pro-Turkish Syrian militias Sultan Murad and Suleiman Shah, local Syrian forces affiliated with Turkey and operating under its authority, and may even benefit from direct support for weapons, logistics, and training from Ankara and the Erdogan government.

Turkish military forces and air force units are working to establish themselves at the T4 base in Homs and the air force base in Hama, among others. According to reports, the goal is to deploy Turkish UAV systems and air defense systems that could limit the freedom of action of air force planes in Syrian airspace.
