BREAKING: Missile launch identified from Yemen

A Houthi missile launch has been identified by Israel's missile defense.

The IDF detected a missile launch from Yemen a short time ago today (Thursday), triggering a siren throughout the Jerusalem and Central areas. The IDF is now working to intercept the missile.

The Israeli State Cup game was put on hold due to the sirens. Watch:

UPDATE: The missile has been successfully intercepted outside Israeli territory.

The IDF released the following statement:

"Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in several areas in Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted.

"Sirens were sounded in accordance with protocol."

Earlier today, the Houthi leader promised "more precise and effective" missile attacks on Israel.

Magen David Adom released the following statement:

"Following the alarms that were heard in the center of the country in recent minutes: As of this moment, no calls have been received regarding casualties except for cases of anxiety and people who were injured on their way to protected areas. Further updates will follow as needed."

The Israel Police released this statement regarding the interception:

"Central District police are currently conducting operational sweeps in the sector in accordance with reports to the 100 emergency center, in order to locate and isolate impact sites if any exist, to assist the public.

"We will update with additional details as they become available and call on residents to remain near protected areas, to avoid approaching impact sites, not to approach or touch rocket debris which may contain explosive materials, and to report immediately to Israel Police's 100 emergency center."
