Tensions Mount as Syria’s Druze Face Ongoing Massacre

Military Coup? Israeli Druze Soldiers Threaten: “Stop the Massacre in Syria, or We Will Do It Ourselves”

As reports of atrocities in southern Syria escalate, a Druze reservist warns: “If Israel won’t stop the slaughter, we will.” The IDF has already admitted wounded Syrian Druze for treatment and is preparing for multiple scenarios along the border.

As the massacre of the Druze minority in southern Syria continues, tensions are boiling over in Israel and not only at the political level. A Druze Israeli reservist issued a chilling warning today: “We will go and defend our families in Syria ourselves if Israel does nothing.”

The statement, made in an interview with Ynet, comes amid growing frustration within the Druze community.

“We’re receiving constant reports from our brothers over the border; sheikhs are taking up arms to protect their villages and are being slaughtered,” the reservist said. “Meanwhile, Israel stands idly by, despite promises made to us.”

He continued: “There is a historic blood pact between Jews and Druze. Just as we rose to fight and die for the state, especially after the horrors of October 7, we must also rise to stop the horrors now unfolding in Syria against our brothers. This pact has no borders. If we must, we will go ourselves.”

Earlier today, the IDF admitted two wounded Syrian Druze civilians for medical treatment inside Israeli territory. They were evacuated to Ziv Medical Center in Safed after sustaining injuries in the conflict zone.

The IDF has deployed forces along the southern Syrian border and remains on high alert to prevent incursions by hostile actors and to protect Druze villages in the area. Military officials say they are closely monitoring developments and preparing for multiple contingencies.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a sharp warning this evening to Abu Mohammad al Julani, the de facto leader of Syria. “I repeat my warning to Julani,” Katz said. “If attacks against the Druze in Syria do not stop, we will respond with great severity.”

According to Katz, Israel has already carried out warning strikes against extremist targets and conveyed a clear message to local power brokers that the Syrian regime will be held fully responsible for protecting the Druze community.
