Tension Between Smotrich and Peleg

Tension in the studio between Smotrich and Gai Peleg

Guy Peleg claimed in the broadcast that Smotrich was stopped in the past with fuel on the way to Ayalon routes. The finance minister threatened to sue him for libel and attacked him harshly.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich confronted the legal commentator of News 12 Guy Peleg yesterday in the studio, after the latter said that Smotrich was stopped with fuel in the Ayalon lanes.

Smotrich, on his part, replied to Peleg: "I have never been stopped with fuel, and if you don't back off I will sue you."

Peleg did not stop and told Smotrich that according to the former deputy head of the Shin Bet, he was indeed arrested and was even under the general security agency's dukai.

At this point, Smotrich turned to Peleg and said to him: "Guy, you are one of the biggest jokers here in this studio. I'm telling you, just like Guy Peleg is now making up facts, Guy is deceiving you every night and the man doesn't even know what facts are."

Smotrich addressed the members of the studio and told them: "You are degrading the discourse in Israel to a low level, and are preventing the possibility of a serious, respectful and in-depth discourse on issues important to Israeli society. We are trying to conduct this discourse and you are sabotaging it."
