Litvaks public leader on spitting: "total ban"
The leader of the Lita'im public, Rabbi Meir Zvi Bergman, strongly condemned the phenomenon of spitting against Christians: blaspheming God is terrible, it is absolutely forbidden to do so

During today's (Thursday) visit of Knesset members from the Degel HaTorah to the home of Litvaks 'public leader Rabbi Meir Zvi Bergman, the rabbi denounced the phenomenon of spitting on Christians that occurred in the Old City. According to the rabbi, this is terrible blasphemy, the phenomenon of spitting against Christians, and that there is a complete prohibition to do so.
At the end of the story, the Degel HaTorah faction announced that it strongly condemns this deviant phenomenon and calls for it to be stopped immediately.
As a reminder, yesterday 5 suspects (4 adults and a minor) were arrested on suspicion of spitting at the entrance of churches in the Old City of Jerusalem. One of them was arrested after being identified for a case that happened earlier this week and the other four from cases that happened this morning, in which a suspect spat at a worker at the entrance to the church. All the suspects were transferred for questioning. Three of the suspects arrested by the police were identified during the morning act by the observers of the control center of the Civil police in Jerusalem.
The commander of the Jerusalem District, Superintendent Doron Turgeman, referred to the phenomenon of spitting at Christians at the end of yesterday's assessment of the situation in the Old City of Jerusalem and said: "We will not tolerate displays of hatred towards anyone, Jews, Muslims or Christians in the Old City and anywhere else in Jerusalem."
