U.S. President Donald Trump called on the American people to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day, issuing a solemn White House statement on Wednesday that reflected on the atrocities of the Holocaust and the rise of antisemitism in America today.

"During these Days of Remembrance of Victims of the Holocaust, we reflect upon the dark affront to human dignity posed by Nazis. We cherish the eternal memories of all those whose lives were lost to the deadly scourge of anti-Semitism," Trump wrote.

Noting that "antisemitism is at a record high," the former president emphasized the urgency of vigilance. "Above all, we vow to never forget the atrocities of the Holocaust. We declare that never again means now."

He went on to stress the importance of preserving the legacy of Holocaust victims, stating that "the price to humanity of the lives lost during the Shoah can never be fully grasped or understood."

In his message, Trump also highlighted the post-Holocaust establishment of the Jewish state: "Even in the wake of the Holocaust, a self-determined Jewish homeland rose from the ashes as the modern State of Israel."

Acknowledging a rise in antisemitic incidents in the United States, Trump referred to recent violence and threats following Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. "Nearly every day following the deadly October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, Jewish Americans were threatened on our streets and in our public square, a reminder that the poison of antisemitism tragically still exists," he wrote.

Trump also pointed to the steps his administration has taken to combat antisemitism. "As President, I signed an Executive Order directing the Federal Government to use all available and appropriate legal tools to combat the explosion of antisemitic harassment in our schools and on college campuses, including through the removal of resident aliens who violate our laws. We are also steadfastly committed to investigating and swiftly punishing all antisemitic discrimination in leftist, anti-American colleges and universities."

He concluded by encouraging the public to reflect and remember: "We ask all Americans to observe Holocaust Remembrance Day and to pay tribute to the victims."
