Urgent Recall: Thousands of Tons of Non-Kosher Beef Distributed in Israel
The Chief Rabbinate warns of a major kashrut failure in "Super Beef" Asado products imported from Paraguay. Forbidden fats were not removed, sparking an urgent recall across Israel.

The Chief Rabbinate of Israel issued an urgent "Kashrut Bomb" on Tuesday afternoon, warning the public of a severe failure in the de-veining and fat-removal process (nikkur) of frozen beef imported from Paraguay.
According to the Department for the Prevention of Kashrut Fraud, thousands of kilograms of beef containing forbidden fats (Chelev), the consumption of which is a severe biblical prohibition, have been distributed to supermarkets, butcher shops, and event halls across the country.
The alert specifically targets the popular "Super Beef" brand, marketed by the "Of Jerusalem" (Jerusalem Poultry) company. Consumers are urged to immediately check their freezers for the following:
Frozen Premium Beef Asado (Short Ribs) – Brand: "Super Beef."
Processed Beef Asado with Bone – Marketed by "Of Jerusalem."
The scope of the incident is staggering. Investigations reveal that the failure was not an isolated event but occurred in meat slaughtered over a two-year period, spanning from winter 2024 to winter 2026.
Because the meat has been on shelves for so long, kashrut officials fear that thousands of households may have already consumed the prohibited fats.
The Chief Rabbinate has issued a definitive ruling: "This produce must not be used without immediate re-cleansing by a certified expert (menaker)."
Kashrut supervisors nationwide have been instructed to pull all remaining stock from shelves. While the "Of Jerusalem" company is reportedly cooperating fully to rectify the error and recall the products, the Rabbinate emphasizes that the responsibility now lies with the consumer to verify their home stock.
"This is a *De'Oraita* (Biblical) concern regarding the consumption of forbidden fats," a senior kashrut official stated. "Every individual must check their freezer immediately."
