A New Type of Terror Threat Just Emerged, And Security Officials Are Warning It's Dangerous
In an alarming development, Israeli security forces have arrested a terror cell and dismantled a sophisticated rocket manufacturing workshop, thwarting a dangerous escalation of violence.
Israeli security forces, in a joint operation by the IDF, ISA, and Yamam, conducted a raid near Ramallah, arresting a terror cell responsible for producing rockets. The operation, based on intelligence reports, targeted a group suspected of attempting a rocket launch from the Na'ama area just last week. During the raid, forces surrounded the suspects' hideout and opened fire, leading to the apprehension of three individuals.
A search of the structure revealed a significant cache of weaponry, including dozens of rockets, with two fully assembled and ready for launch, albeit without warheads. Authorities also found a large quantity of explosives, explosive materials, and a sophisticated lathe used for manufacturing the rockets. This discovery is a major concern for security officials, as it marks the first time a domestically produced rocket in the region has reached such an advanced level of operational development. The rocket from the attempted launch had an estimated range of ten kilometers, a distance that places communities in the area at risk.
The raid has drawn strong reactions from political and security figures. The Yesha Council, a body representing communities in Judea and Samaria, called for the application of sovereignty, stating that continued hesitation by the government only emboldens terrorism. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir echoed this sentiment, drawing a comparison to the situation in Gaza before October 7 and warning that the Palestinian Authority is "training to carry out 10/7 in Judea and Samaria."
A security source acknowledged that while overall terror activity has been at a 25-year low, the recent series of incidents, including the Ramallah raid and a fatal attack at the Allenby Bridge crossing, are "a significant warning sign." The location of this activity in Ramallah, the heart of the Palestinian Authority, is particularly alarming, raising fears that these isolated events could lead to a wider uprising and new wave of violence.
