IDF paving emergency roads in preparation for possible war in north
The work, which has been carried out for the past five months, includes routes for moving forces and for evacuating civilians.
IDF Northern Command's Fortifications Department has been working ever since the war to pave designated roads to ensure the safety of soldiers and civilians during the current border war or a possible broader war.
Paving them through hilly terrain and in areas concealed from Hezbollah, the roads are meant to serve three purposes: routine movement of forces from place to place, as safe from projectile fire as possible, movement of larger forces from place to place in case of war, and the safe evacuation of civilians.
