Social media explodes with memes after IDF footage captures Hamas leader’s wife sporting luxury bag while the family flees to a tunnel just hours before the October 7 attacks.
The wife of former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was seen carrying a $32,000 Birkin bag in footage published by the IDF, according to Lt.-Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic spokesperson, on Saturday evening.
"While Gaza residents struggle for basic necessities, we continue to see Sinwar and his wife's extravagant lifestyle," Adraee posted on X, sharing a screenshot of the footage, which appeared to show Sinwar’s wife holding the luxury handbag.
“Did Sinwar’s wife enter the tunnel with him on October 6 carrying a Birkin bag worth $32,000?!” Adraee wrote. Earlier that day, IDF spokesperson R.-Adm. Daniel Hagari had released footage from October 6, 2023, showing Sinwar and his family fleeing into a tunnel just hours before the October 7 massacre.
"They stocked up on food, a TV, and other goods for a prolonged stay underground. His priority was clearly his own survival," Hagari said.
