Beitar teen missing three weeks — again

Police release photo and details of Shmuel Rachamim Toitian, 17, last seen nearly a month ago in the chareidi city, the second time he has disappeared for an extended period

17-Year-Old From Beitar Illit Missing for Three Weeks — Second Time

Shmuel Rachamim Toitian, 17, a resident of the chareidi city of Beitar Illit, has been missing for close to a month, and police have released his photograph and details asking the public to help locate him.

"The Etzion station of the Israel Police is asking for the public's help in searching for a missing person at risk," police said Sunday. He is described as thin, approximately 1.70 meters tall, with short black hair, dark eyes, and wearing glasses.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts or who can assist in locating him is asked to call the Etzion station at 02-6544444 or the Israel Police hotline at 100.

This is not the first time Toitian has gone missing. At the beginning of Elul, about two months ago, he was found safe after being missing for several weeks.

Channel 14 reported after he was located in Elul that Toitian had left the "Beit HaNa'ar" boarding facility in Ein Vered on Motzei Shabbos, July 18, around 9:00 p.m., and did not return. Following his disappearance, the Etzion station opened a search and he was classified as a ward who had fled. Police later turned to the public asking for help in locating him and published his photograph and description, hoping to receive information from anyone who had seen him since he left the facility or knew where he was staying.

A police source told Channel 14 at the time that it was a voluntary flight and that during the weeks he was missing, "extensive activity" was carried out in several locations across the country. According to the source, the activity included attempts to trace the boy's escape route, alongside contact with people who were in touch with him and attempts through them to persuade him to return to the framework where he was supposed to be.

Now he is missing once again, and again for an extended period. Police are once more asking the public for help in finding him.
