It's Official: IDF Prepares for Massive Hostage Return Operation
IDF initiates comprehensive preparations for hostage return operation while maintaining combat readiness. Military leadership focuses on dual mandate of rescue and defense posture.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officially welcomed the signing of the hostage return agreement overnight, announcing that the military is initiating preparations for both the sensitive return operation and a continued strong defense posture.
The announcement follows a situational assessment led by the Chief of the General Staff, who issued directives to all combat and support units.
Preparation for Hostage Retrieval and Defense
The military leadership emphasized a dual mandate: preparing for the operation to bring the captives home while maintaining war readiness.
The Chief of the General Staff instructed all forces, "both on the front lines and in the rear areas, to prepare strong defenses and be ready for any scenario." At the same time, force deployments will be executed in strict accordance with directives from the political leadership and the specific stages outlined in the newly signed agreement. The IDF stressed that these deployments will be conducted "with responsibility and a focus on the safety of our soldiers.
Simultaneously, the Chief of the General Staff ordered preparations to lead the actual operation for the hostages’ return, which is expected to be conducted "with sensitivity and professionalism."
The IDF reiterated its commitment to the broader goals of the conflict, stating,
"The IDF will continue to act to achieve the objectives of the war and to defend the citizens of the State of Israel on all fronts."
