From 'Never Again' to 'Once Again' - Israel failed Edan Alexander, Trump Saved him

The release of Edan Alexander an IDF soldier, an American and Israeli citizen, is both a moment of relief and a moment of reckoning. It exposes a bitter truth: Benjamin Netanyahu's Israel is no longer capable of protecting its own citizens without American intervention.

While U.S. diplomacy succeeded with a few phone calls, Israel's tanks and ultimatums delivered nothing but more diplomatic damage. The episode underscores Israel’s growing status as a dependent client state - one that commands less and less respect, even from its closest ally.

Donald Trump’s decision not to visit Israel during his upcoming Middle East tour is not just a snub. It’s a reflection of reality. With Netanyahu offering no plan, no movement, and no vision beyond political survival, it’s hard to blame Trump if he prefers to spend his time elsewhere.

One can only imagine what Trump will hear on this trip - from calls to cancel the Gaza plan to appeals for a Palestinian state. And again, who can blame him? Netanyahu brings nothing to the table. No ideas. No flexibility. Just a clinically paranoid bunker mentality.

And if the only person around to remind Trump that “the Arabs are not reliable partners” is Jared Kushner - well, one must ask: is Netanyahu any better?

After October 7th, we discovered that “Never Again” is just a slogan. Now we’ve also learned that the IDF’s motto, “We don’t leave wounded behind,” is another myth. In the end, as all the slogans Jews and Israelis tell themselves dissolve into cruel and pathetic jokes, what is left but to pray - to Uncle Sam, and to the One Above.
