Ilan Buaron, a 22-year-old Wolt courier, started his Tuesday night shift with no idea he’d be facing an unexpected delivery. After picking up a pizza from a restaurant in Ramat Gan around 2:00 a.m., he began his ride to the customer’s address. Just moments later, Buaron received an urgent message from Magen David Adom (MDA) about a woman in labor just two blocks away.
Recognizing the situation, Buaron swiftly altered his route and headed to the woman's home with the pizza. Upon arrival, he found her in an advanced stage of labor, supported by her husband and mother. Drawing on his training as a MDA volunteer, Buaron assisted with the delivery and successfully helped the couple welcome their baby boy.
In the midst of this, Buaron managed to notify Wolt’s service center about the change in plans. He explained, "I received a notification about an active birth while en route to the delivery address, so I stopped to help, and I'll be here a little longer."
As for the pizza? A new one was dispatched to the awaiting customers, while the pizza Buaron had was shared with the ambulance crew that arrived on the scene.
