Iran Evacuates Major Petrochemical Plant Following Israeli Airstrikes

Air defense systems and drone warehouses targeted across multiple Iranian cities, including Tehran and Mahshahr

Iran has ordered the full evacuation of a major petrochemical plant in the southwestern city of Mahshahr following targeted Israeli airstrikes, Reuters reported Monday morning. The evacuation coincided with reports from Iran's Mehr News Agency that air defense systems were activated across several areas in the city of Kermanshah as the military operations unfolded.

Multi-City Strikes Target Strategic Infrastructure

The Israeli Air Force, guided by military intelligence, executed approximately 15 strikes in a single wave of operations. The coordinated assault targeted vital infrastructure across several key Iranian regions, including Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Kermanshah, Karaj, and other areas in the western part of the country.

Air Defenses and Drone Facilities Hit

According to various Iranian media sources, a primary objective of the Israeli airstrikes was to neutralize Iranian air defense systems.

These systems had been recently rebuilt and restored after sustaining significant damage during a previous round of military confrontations with Israel.

In addition to the petrochemical facility and defense batteries, sources report that strikes hit targets near the Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran, as well as a military warehouse used for storing unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) within the Iranian capital.

Israel Prepares for Extended Operations

Israeli security officials estimate that the airstrikes in Iran will continue for several days. In response to the developing situation, the small Israeli security cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, convened to review and approve further operational plans for upcoming strikes.
